THE BEST OF THE AMERICAN MULTICULTURAL EXPERIENCE
Mexico will be the special guest of the great cultural showcase.
With 16 participating countries, 1,500 artists and musical bands, the city will celebrate “Hispanidad 2022” on more than 90 stages from October 4th to 12th.
The program, mostly free of charge, includes music, literature, art and gastronomy events such as exhibitions, parades, theater, entertainment and concerts.
In addition, for the first time in the history of the festivities, they will be expanded to Barcelona, Ceuta and Melilla. Equatorial Guinea and the Philippines will also join the list of countries involved.

“Hispanidad 2022 celebrates language as an element of cultural and social cohesion, it is positioned as a unique event in the world by claiming its own identity, at the same time varied and diverse, which has been fundamental in the evolution of universal history”, highlights the official communiqué of the Community of Madrid.
This year, Mexico will be an important protagonist along with the renowned writer Jorge Volpi, who will be in charge of giving the opening speech on October 4th.

On October 5th, the Casa de Mexico in Spain will host a reading of poems by the winner of the Loewe Poetry Prize 2021, Mexican Orlando Mondragon, accompanied by Gioconda Belli, Nicaraguan poet and novelist.
On Friday, October 7th “will start the musical program in different spaces of the city of Madrid, such as Plaza de España, Plaza de Callao, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Paja, Plaza de las Comendadoras, Fuencarral Street, Plaza de Nelson Mandela, Finca de Vista Alegre or the open-air auditorium Parque Aluche with concerts of singer-songwriters, folk, fusion and electronic music. Among the artists are names like Lao Ra, from Colombia; Guada, from Argentina; The Bongo Hop with Nida Góngora, from Equatorial Guinea and Macuiles, from Mexico”.
The following Sunday will be a free concert by Colombian singer Camilo, along with Spanish guests, at the Puerta de Alcalá.
All the activities organized for the celebration are complemented by those held in the main cultural institutions established in the Spanish region, such as the National Library of Spain, the Royal Spanish Academy, the Naval Museum, the Cerralbo Museum, the Royal Botanical Garden or CaixaForum, in addition to art galleries, which will feature programs by Hispanic American artists and companies.
